 Hello Goals Community,

Registration has closed and we are working on creating our rosters and assigning our coaches and team parents.

We are a little short on coaches and very short on team parents. The 4-5 year old team needs two coach volunteers and we are short a lot of team parents!

Please consider if this is something that you can do. We can move team parents around, so it’s not definitive which teams need assistance. Please email us at goalssoccerleague@gmail.com if you are willing to take on either of these roles.

If you’re unsure what being a team parent entails, we will provide information on what is the description of this job and answer any questions you may have as they come up. Overall, it includes team communication, making sure photos of the players gets taken (but you can ask for someone else on the team to do this as well) that their scrapbook page gets made (and you can ask for help with this from other parents on the team), and planning a small party for the kids at the end of the season.

In addition, our field coordinator, Ryan Weedon, is asking for help to measure and mark the fields at this new location. Teens and adults are welcome to assist with this. This is planned for August 29th around 9am. Please email us if you are able to come and assist with this so we know how many are planning to come.

Thank you for considering. As always, we can’t do this without you!

Field Update

Hello Goals Soccer Families,

We are very happy to announce we have reserved the fields at Barendse Park in Hubbard and received permission to paint the fields and leave our goals at the park.  This is fantastic news!

Here is the link for our season schedule:  https://molallahomeschoolsoccer.blogspot.com/p/practice-schedule.html?m=1

We will have a map of the park and locations of each field once we have those details ironed out.  The map will be available to you on our website and at registration on August 31st, our first practice.

Please note, due to prior park reservations, we are not able to use Barendse Park for the first two Thursday practices; those first 2 practices have been moved to Monday 8/31 and 9/7.  Thursday practices will resume on 9/17 and will continue for the remainder of the season.

Coach's meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 27th at 5:00 at Barendse Park near the playground.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Field location issues - Clark Park is not available

Hello Goals Soccer Families,

We need to make you aware of a big change for this year’s Goals Soccer season. We were made aware of this problem in early July and have spent the month contacting area cities, schools and a church. We found that Barendse Park in Hubbard is the only option. Apparently, Molalla Middle School is rebuilding their school, which has caused the problem with us using Clark Park at our usual times. We considered changing the time of practice to Wednesdays and games to Saturday evenings at Clark Park but they won’t allow us to paint the fields or leave our goals. We cannot play without lines and goals.

Fortunately, Barendse Park is available on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, except the first 2 Thursdays. We have asked if they will allow us to paint and leave our goals and we will let you know once we have those details. A lot of you will be very familiar with Barendse Park, as it’s the same one used for Homerun Baseball. ⚾️ We fully understand this will cause unacceptable complications and we are very sorry. For those of you who have already registered and would like a refund, simply let us know. Everything else should be the same as every other season. We know this season will be different and a little more challenging, but at least we will have a season. If we don’t switch to Barendse Park, we would not have a season at all.

Stay tuned for further details. We will keep you posted as details come in.

Meanwhile, please register and get ready for another great season!

                                                                                           Thank you!

                                                                                          Jennifer, Stephanie and Janice

Soccer Registration opens soon!

Registration opening soon

Good news!  Soccer Registration for the 2026 season is set to open on June 18th.

Browse the Goals Homeschool Soccer website to find details about our league.  (Be aware that we are in the process of updating the website, so some info may be last year's info.)

Feel free to invite homeschooling friends to subscribe to the soccer website so they can get up to date information about our league.

Leadership Change

We have a leadership change this year. After many years of leadership with this league, I am stepping down from the leadership team.  I only have one child still interested/available for soccer, and there are other options for him that are closer to home.  I have thoroughly enjoyed all my years with this league, and I will miss it greatly.

Thankfully, we have great leaders in place to continue running the league. Jennifer Williams has been helping lead this league for many years and has extensive knowledge. Ryan Weedon has also been a huge part of the team, helping mentor our coaches and refs. Steph Delano will be joining the leadership team. She is very skilled in many ways, and she will be a great benefit to the league!  If you have any questions about this change, please contact Jennifer or Steph at goalssoccerleague@gmail.com.

I will be sticking around to help during the transition, so you still might hear from me over email, but I won't be on the field next fall.

Much love to you all!

Janice Nelson

We need your help...

Alumni Game TOMORROW

Calling all alumni, parents of current players, and any other adults who would like to play soccer.  We will have a soccer game starting around 1pm tomorrow, and another game on Nov 1st.

Off Season needs

We are nearing the end of the season and now is the time to consider off-season needs…

1  Goals Storage:  we need a place to store all the soccer goals outside Clark Park. The big goals are the priority, but we are thinking all the goals can nestle inside each other so they take less space.  Maybe you have some property and the goals could sit in a corner of your land?

2 Goals Transport: the big goals are very large, and they don't come apart. In the past we have rented a flat bed trailer to transport them.  We are wondering if anyone owns a trailer to help with moving them. It would be ideal to move them on Nov 1st after the last game, when we will have lots of help.  Timing would be around 2:30/3pm.

3  Bin storage:  we have 6 bins that need to be stored.  They are the coach bins, about 12 gallons or 21”x15”x12”.  It would be ideal if they were all stored in the same place. We also have the two line painting machines to store.

4  Field repair:  the new middle school field was great to allow us to expand; however, the field is in bad shape.  Do you have any experience in repairing fields?  We think working on it in the spring may mean it’s ready by the start of the season next fall.  We will also need to check with the high school for permission.

If you have ideas for these needs, please email us at goalssoccerleague@gmail.com

Lost and Found:  Don’t forget to check the lost and found. We will donate all items at the end of the season so please make sure you check.

End of the Season Party:  Please help your team moms and bring a treat to share.  And, don’t forget to clean up after the party.

This has been a fantastic season!

THANK YOU!

Thank you coaches, asst coaches, refs, team parents, line judges and line painters!

Alumni Game

Ready to dust off those cleats?

YOU ARE INVITED to join the Alumni soccer games following the high school games on Oct. 25th and Nov. 1st, around 12:20 or 12:30. Please let us know if you have any questions. Spread the word!

Who are these alumni games for? Mostly adults - any Homeschool Soccer Alumni and parents of current Homeschool players.

And a reminder - Team Parents, don't forget to pick up your picture supplies tonight at practice!

Thank you to all of you who are making this season run so smoothly!

soccer socks. OC Locker Room has free cleats and shin guards.

  • No jewelry may be worn, referees will be checking prior to the start of games. If your

daughter has new pierced ears they can be worn but must be covered with medical

    tape prior to play.

  • We will have referees and line judges for 9-10, middle school and high school plus 1

    line judge for 8-9.

  • All games start at 9:00am at Clark Park, except high school, start time is 10:30.

  • Please arrive at least 15 mins prior to the start of the game for stretching and warmup.

contacted.  Both groups have meetings on Thursday. Line Judge training happens promptly at

5:30pm this Thursday. Team Parent meeting happens at 6pm this Thursday.

not been contacted about your position, please stop by the registration table to be added to

the line judge list.

them to the appropriate team box or drop them off at lost and found near the bathrooms.

This season is off to a great start!

We've had two practices, and it seems things are going quite smoothly!

We do have the size Youth Small jerseys now, so if you ordered one please come see us before practice in the covered area.  We also bought some Extra Small jerseys - you are welcome to come try them on to see which fits best.

We have practice this evening and on Saturday Sept 13th, 9-11am. NEXT Saturday, Sept 20th, is our first game.

See you tonight!

Soccer is coming soon!

Our first practice is September 4th, and it’s right around the corner!

A few changes this year:

-We will NOT have used cleats and equipment this year. We are directing people to go to The OC Locker Room. They have a great selection and everything is free. They are open Wednesday and Saturday mornings – check the website for more info! Theoclockerroom.org

-We are adding a field this year, across the street from the parking lot. Our middle school group will play there. This will allow more playing space, without taking any teams to a different location.

-We are adding an age group. This is necessary in order to accommodate as many players as possible and also make teams manageable for our coaches. These will be our age groups: 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 9-10, 11-13, 13-18. There will be 2 teams at each age bracket. (Where the age levels overlap we separated the kids mostly based on age) Once the season begins, there may be situations where a child needs to move to a different age bracket, and we’ll address those on a case by case basis.

What to expect:

-During the next couple weeks, watch your email for notification about your volunteer job for the season. If we are not able to put you in the job you chose during registration, we will contact you.

-At the first practice, we will have a registration table set up near the bathrooms. You’ll check in with us and get name tags, jerseys (if needed), and find out which field your children are playing on. Practice starts at 5:30 on September 4th, and we will be there to register kids as early as 5:15.

-At subsequent practices, your children will just go straight to the field they play on.

NOTE: If you know of anyone who is interested in being a referee, we are looking for a ref for the 9-10 age group, and possibly the middle school group. If you are a parent, it would fulfill your volunteer job for the league. If you are not a parent, the league will give a stipend for being a referee. Contact Jennifer if you know of someone who might be interested in refereeing.

As a reminder, here is our upcoming schedule:

August 28th 6:30-7:30 ~ Coach's meeting (Clark Park)

September 4th ~ First Practice (Come check in at the registration table!)

Thursday Practices are 5:30-7:30pm (or dusk)

Change in Leadership

Pedro and Joy Cruz, after many years of being in charge of this league, have decided to step away from their leadership role. Their soccer loving high schooler has graduated high school, and their younger children have other interests, so it makes sense for them to let others take on the leadership of the league. But do not worry, they are sticking around and making sure things are not missed in the transition. And you might very well still see their smiling faces on the field a few times this season.

Please join me in thanking them for all the work they did for the league!!!  Pedro and Joy, you did so much for this league and we are SO grateful!

We are in good shape for this transition. Pedro, Joy, Jennifer, and Janice have all been working together for several years on the leadership team, so things should continue seamlessly as Jennifer and Janice continue leading this league.  We have been working behind the scenes to prepare for this season, and we are looking forward to seeing you on the field! If you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like to discuss how you can help on the leadership team, please feel free to contact Jennifer Williams 304-972-4003 or Janice Nelson 503-999-9957

We also have a brand new email address for the league. Both Jennifer and Janice will have access to this email address, so please use this to contact us with any questions or concerns! GoalsSoccerLeague@gmail.com

Also, registration closes on August 22nd, so if you haven't registered yet, now's the time!  Click here to get to the registration page.
